St. George's Church, constructed in the Kyiv region in 1873, was shelled by Russian forces.

Thankfully, no one was murdered in the assault.

The Russian occupiers proceeded through the village of Zavorychi on the first day of Lent (in the Orthodox Christian calendar), firing artillery against private residences on purpose.

The church's dome was to the left of the Russian troops' movement, and "our parishioners stated that they observed with their own eyes that Russian troops targeted a shell right at the church's dome," according to the rector, Archpriest Petro Kotyuk.

Russians also used powerful machine gun rounds to fire at the chapel. As a result, the church and some homes on the village's eastern fringes were completely destroyed by fire.
